What is a Polygraph Examination? 

A Polygraph Examination generally takes up to two hours. It starts with an informal interview during which the subject is encouraged to be honest about the relevant matters (e,g, employment history, previous criminal behaviour, incident under investigation etc.). 

This is followed by the test itself in which specific questions are asked of the subject whilst physiological readings are recorded. The examiner will then use these readings to make an assessment as to whether the subject has answered the questions truthfully. 

Finally, the examiner will discuss the results with the subject to resolve any anomalies.
